It was the company values and the people that brought Amber to Connexin, and now she has become one of the people uplifting our team! With a smile on her face, Amber engages with the community through local sponsorships and charity support, as well as leading escalated complaints to a positive resolution.
As Connexin’s Community Engagement Officer, it only seems right that Amber was voted by her colleagues as the person who delights not only our customers, but our team too!
After her win, we asked Amber a few questions to get to know her a little better, and here’s what she had to say…
Tell us a bit about yourself
I’m a crazy cat lady who likes wine and musicals. I was brought up in Spain and love travelling as much as I can.
How did you get to this stage in your career?
Hard work, self-motivation.
What is your history in the industry/job type?
I originally started in sales, customer service and complaints. Then worked in project management on a fibre build. These skills combined made the Community Engagement role perfect for me.
What drives/motivates you?
Self-achievement, I love coming home and feeling I have achieved something.
What are you most proud of in your career so far?
My first job I became a manger within 6 months, and this has given me the experience and knowledge that I have today. It has also helped me exceed in my career.
How long have you been at Connexin?
1 year next month!
How do you feel about winning your award?
Over the moon!
What does your job role entail?
My job is very varied, I deal with escalated complaints to engaging with the community.
What does a typical day look like for you?
My days are so varied so no day is the same.
What excites you most about your job?
Every day my job is different, this keeps me on my toes which I love!

I use the culture code everyday when dealing with residents and the community
What do you like most about working at Connexin?
The people, the culture code. Everything really. I actually look forward to going to work everyday.
What do you think makes our team culture unique?
The people, we are such a mixed bunch

Funniest
What fashion trend do you regret?
There’s many, but the worst would have to be calf length leggings and dolly shoes, with belt

Why don’t you eat clowns? Because they taste funny

What is the weirdest fact you know?
Poler bears are all left-handed
Would you rather meet your ancestors or descendants?
Ancestors, I have a history degree so anything from the past fascinates me
Which three people would you want on your zombie apocalypse team? (Two work colleagues and a celebrity)
This one is a hard one, I think I would annoy everybody to much!
What clothing item would make you walk out on a date if someone wore it?
Oh there’s many, I’m very picky. But if they have rubbish shoes I’m a goner before walking through the door.
