You will act as a senior technical authority within the software team, shaping the design and delivery of high-quality, secure and scalable software solutions. Contribute to project visioning and scoping sessions, advising on technical feasibility, risks, and best-fit architecture.

Lead on complex or critical development tasks, ensuring that systems and integrations are built to a high standard of quality, performance and security.

Collaborate closely with designers to ensure solutions are intuitive, accessible, and aligned with the intended user experience.

Work with the wider team to define, review and validate requirements, ensuring technical feasibility and clarity before development begins.

Champion quality assurance within the team by supporting thorough testing, code review, and release validation to maintain high standards of reliability and performance.

Produce high-quality internal and customer-facing documentation to support systems, integrations, and features developed.

Coach and mentor Software Specialists and Scrum Masters, supporting skill development and embedding best practice through peer review and collaborative working.

Provide technical input and advice to internal stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of progress, issues, and dependencies.

Maintain strong awareness of emerging technologies and approaches, proactively recommending improvements to our tech stack, processes, and delivery methods.

Support the CTIO and CSO in planning delivery activity, ensuring realistic timeframes, effective prioritisation and resource awareness.

Participate in regular team ceremonies, retrospectives and showcases, driving continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.

Be available for emergency response to critical system issues outside of normal working hours on an informal, “best endeavours” basis.

Ensure compliance with company standards and relevant legislation, including GDPR, data protection and information security policies.

Essential Skills & Experience:

Strong experience in full-stack software development (JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Cloudflare Workers, MongoDB or similar technologies).

Proven ability to design, develop and maintain secure, reliable, and scalable web applications.

Demonstrable experience contributing to project design, feasibility assessment and technical solutioning.

Strong communication skills, able to translate complex technical information clearly for non-technical stakeholders.

Skilled collaborator who builds effective working relationships across teams and disciplines.

Excellent problem-solving ability and analytical thinking.

Proven experience mentoring or coaching other developers, providing constructive feedback and sharing knowledge.
