Field Network Engineer

Role & Responsibilities

  • Install and maintain a range of network equipment both on your own and as part of a team
  • Configure radio, routing, switching network equipment
  • PtP link line up to ensure high quality throughput and capacity
  • Installation, termination, diagnostics and supervision of structured cabling including category 5e, 6, 7 and 8 copper cabling as well as single and multimode fibre optic cabling
  • Understand the importance of and work according to the safe working at heights policy
  • Configure complex network topologies and troubleshooting
  • Installation and maintenance of hosted and onsite VoIP telephony systems
  • Take leadership and provide professional service when working as part of a team to ensure the objectives of the work are met in a timely and safe manor
  • Maintain a safe working environment and carry out dynamic risk assessments prior to commencement of any work
  • Produce detailed plans for engineering work including where necessary technical drawings
  • Providing a high-quality customer service at all times
  • Participate in the on-call team, responding to alerts and alarms around the clock to ensure network uptime

 

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively on your own and as part of a team
  • Ability to work to deadline and under pressure
  • Experience with working at height
  • Previous customer service experience
  • An understanding of the following:
    • wireless distribution, advanced networking and radio frequency
    • PTP Microwave Wireless
    • PTMP FWA Wireless Distribution
    • FTTC, EAD, ADSL or other BT Openreach Products
    • hosted telephony, SIP trunk and onsite PBX system
    • Mikrotik and Cisco routers and routing protocols

You will be a Self-Starter, with a can-do attitude towards your work, willing to go over and above to complete your projects to a high standard
