Using the Symbian
S60 operating system in your Nokia E or N series phone, you
can preset a series of wireless networks that are regularly
within your vicinity. With these wireless networks, you will
be able to use the S60’s built in Internet Telephone to make
VoIP calls.
Please ensure you are using the latest version of the S60
operating system to ensure compatibility and that your phone
options are up to date and reflective of this document. To
download the Nokia Software Updater for your phone, please
visit http://www.nokia.com and follow the prompts to their
support site. From there, you can download the latest
version of the Nokia Software Updater, and update the latest
version of S60 into your phone.
Once your phone has been updated, please follow the guide
below to configure your phone for use with a wireless access
point. When you have configured your wireless access point,
please follow on to Guide 2 to configure your phone for use
with your Connexin VoIP number.
Nokia Wireless Access Point Configuration Guide

From your standby screen, press the menu
button on the phone's number pad.

Select Tools.

Select Settings.

Select Connection.

Select Access points.

Press the Options button, then select New access
point and Use default settings.

Within this series of settings, you will need to enter the
following information:
Connection Name: The name you would like to use to
easily identify this access point. E.g. Connexin.
Data Bearer: Change this to Wireless LAN
WLAN netw. name: This option refers to the SSID of
your wireless network. You can either enter the SSID
manually, or Search for netw., this will then perform
a scan of wireless networks within your vicinity. Choose
your preferred network, and press Select.

Network status: Set to Public
WLAN netw. mode: Set to Infrastructure
WLAN security mode: Choose your wireless access
point’s method of security, if your network is not secured
then choose Open network. Otherwise, you have the
option of WEP, 802.1x, WPA/WPA2.
These settings depend entirely on how you have configured
the security access for your wireless network. If you are
unfamiliar with how to alter these configurations, or are
unsure of the following wireless key information, please
speak to the administrator of your wireless network.

WLAN security sett: The options presented here are
relative to your choice in the previous option. As WEP
is the most common security mode across wireless networks,
we have only covered configuration of this method.
If you are using other methods of wireless security, please
refer to your Nokia documentation for assistance in
configuring your wireless network security, or speak to your
wireless network administrator.

WEP key in use: Choose the key number, (ie. #1, #2
etc) that you wish to use. Within the WEP key settings
you can assign four separate keys. If you are only using one
WEP key, choose #1.
Authentication type: Choose between Open or
Shared. If you are unsure, choose Open as it is
the most common method.
WEP key settings: After selecting this, you will
notice tabs #1 to #4 across the top of the screen, this
corresponds with the number chosen for WEP key in use.
Please choose the tab relevant to that selection.

WEP encryption: Choose 64 or 128 bit
encryption
WEP key format: Choose between Hexadecimal or
ASCII
WEP key: Enter your WEP key
Press Back repeatedly to the Settings menu.
You have configured your Wireless Access Point, and are
ready to configure your phone for use with your Connexin
VoIP phone number. The Settings menu is the optimal location
to be so you can continue configuring your VoIP account, but
if you wish to test your connection to the internet, please
attempt to do so via the internet browser located in the
menu in the first image of this article.
